arrived with few possessions. The stories that had been such an
integral part of their heritage, however, did survive the perils
of sea and land, stored securely in the memories of the people.

Hands on History
- History comes alive for
kids
of
all ages! See what animals the Early American Settlers
brought with them and how they were used. Watch oxen traiined to do the hard labor with only a word from the driver. Take a wagon ride through the grounds.

Try some of the fun colonial games that kids played in the 18th
century, such as "trundling the hoop," stilt walking, graces, lawn
bowling, ninepins, draughts (checkers), jacks, board games, and
the Moccasin Game! Just ask
our volunteers in the children's area!

in lots of bright colors, authentic bone trinkets and feathers!
Kids make your own designs or ask for help from our volunteers.

Costume Try-On for Children - Have fun dressing like
the colonial children did - petticoats, chemises, pocket, aprons,
bodice and caps. British coats and breeches, Fur trader
shirts and hats. Mom and Dad bring your camera!
